Where is it?
The Golden Bridge is inside the Sun World Ba Na Hills resort, on Chua Mountain about 25–30 km west of central Da Nang, at roughly 1,400m above sea level, beside the Le Jardin gardens.
There is no road to it. The only way up is the cable car from the base station, a twenty-minute ride. That fare is already included in the Ba Na entrance ticket, so there is nothing extra to buy once you are inside.
From drawing to global fame
The bridge opened in June 2018, designed by a Vietnamese architectural team. The original brief was modest: a pedestrian link between the gardens and a cable car station, with a viewpoint along the way.
What nobody predicted was social media. Within weeks the images had travelled worldwide, and that year TIME named Ba Na Hills among its World's Greatest Places. Since then the bridge has been the default image of Vietnamese tourism abroad.

What makes it special
The hands
This is what stops people scrolling. Two hands appear to grow out of the rock, weathered and moss-covered, as though they had been there for centuries. They are in fact steel frames clad in fibreglass, finished to look like eroded stone — a piece of stagecraft applied to architecture.
The idea: the mountain lifting a ribbon
The design imagines the hands of a mountain god raising a strip of golden silk out of the forest. That framing is why the bridge does not read as something placed on the landscape, but as something the landscape is holding up.
A curve, not a line
The deck bends in a soft arc. That curve does two things: walkers always see a stretch of bridge ahead disappearing into cloud, and photographers always get depth in the frame, wherever they stand.
The view
On a clear day you look out over the forested ridges of Ba Na and, further off, the plain towards Da Nang. This is the part photographs cannot convey.
The fog
Cloud here arrives and clears within minutes. There are moments when the entire deck vanishes into white and only the hands remain visible — the best photograph many people bring home. It is also the risk: too much fog and you see nothing at all.
The colour
Timber decking, gold-painted railings. Against green forest and white cloud, gold is the only colour that stands out — which is why every photograph of this bridge looks the same regardless of the camera.

When to go
Morning — the clear winner
8am to 9.30am, when the first cable car has just delivered its passengers. The sky is usually at its clearest, the light is still soft, and the deck is not yet full. It is the only window in which you have a real chance of a photograph without strangers in it.
Afternoon
After 3pm crowds thin and low sun makes attractive shadows. The catch is that afternoons are when low cloud most often rolls in.

Where to stand
- Between the hands. The classic shot: stand slightly to one side so both a hand and the curve behind it are visible.
- The Le Jardin end. Captures almost the whole arc in a single frame.
- From the cable car. For a few seconds before the station you see the bridge from above — have the camera ready.
- Close to the railing. Use the gold rail as a line leading the eye into the cloud.
- Into the early sun. Shooting through the gap between the fingers produces a starburst.
Three practical tips
- Walk the bridge once without shooting to choose your angles, then come back. It is faster than stopping every few metres.
- Wear light or warm colours. Dark clothing disappears against the forest.
- Shoot low, angled up — the hands look larger and fewer people end up in the background.

Go if
- It is your first time in Da Nang and you have at least three days.

- You dislike crowds and cannot start early.
- The forecast shows several days of heavy fog.
- Your budget is tight — this ticket is the biggest single expense of the day.
Common mistakes
- Arriving at 11am. Busiest, harshest light, worst photographs.
- No jacket. It is windy and around 10°C cooler than the city.
- Doing the French Village first. By the time you reach the bridge it is packed.
- Ignoring the forecast. Heavy fog removes most of the point.
- Allowing only fifteen minutes. Give it 45 — walk out and back.
